How two sisters turned Beysis into a cult retail brand in under two years

With tens of thousands of loyal customers around the globe, Beysis has become a million-dollar business in under 2 years, experiencing over 400% year-on-year growth. Anthea and Ariana Hendry, together with Jessica Bryce, conceived of the brand in 2019 when they noticed a gap in the market for personalised accessories that promote sustainability.

“There has been exponential growth in the market for personalised goods, particularly in the tech space, but we noticed that this didn’t extend to other every-day items.”

Carving their niche, the all-female team set about designing products that are not only functional, but seriously good looking. They then created a platform that allowed customers to put their own personal touch on their item.

“Every product in our range is under $50 and includes free personalisation,” says Managing Director, Ariana Hendry. Beysis believes a lack of design led options on the market has been a barrier to the more prolific take-up of sustainable products. They aim to change this.

Working with Australian industrial designers and artists, Beysis is about to extend its range of eco-friendly, reusable products aimed at reducing consumption of single use plastics. The eco range is completely customisable and strikes the delicate balance between creating a designer aesthetic at an affordable price. “We believe sustainability does not need to come at the expense of good design. The success of our personalised water bottle collection demonstrated to us that consumers want to live more sustainably. Our aim is to create more innovative products which people are proud to carry with them because they played a part in their creation.”
