LiLu Lip Care (LLC) has established a luxury brand category that combines lip balm with fine jewelry.

Although lip balm necklaces aren’t new, they have previously been thought of as plastic toys that were thrown away when depleted.

LiLu Lip Care’s sterling silver, gold and rose gold pendant necklaces hold replaceable lip balm inserts and prioritize both function and beauty.

Meg Meranus, Founder, explains that LiLu Lip Care encourages the frequent use of nourishing lip balm to improve both the look and the texture of lips. Instead of using long wear, drying products, being caught without lip balm, or using lip balm with drying ingredients, LiLu offers easy access to moisturizing lip balm with natural and organic ingredients.

Along with healthful ingredients, LiLu prioritizes eco-friendly packaging and small dose cosmetics for improved hygiene and convenience. The ingredients include plant based moisturizers and color such as coconut oil and aloe. A four pack of lip balm refills comes in recycled cardboard with just over 1 gram of plastic compared to 5.5 grams of plastic for typical lip balm tubes.

LiLu Lip Care received the COSMP PROF packaging innovation award and has several utility and design patents.

The company is expanding color and design choices, as well as introducing a product line called LiLu Besties that are animal themed pieces that clip on backpacks, purses and keychains.

Meranus developed this innovation to satisfy her own desire for a convenient, beautiful way to keep lip balm at her fingertips. LiLu Lip Care works out of an historic building on the Ohio River across from Cincinnati in Kentucky.
